Accessing Cues

The senses bring representations of the outside world to our central nervous system, but there are also aspects of our inner experience that are broadcast to the external world. The way we move our eyes, articulate our voice, breathe, blink, blush or flush, hold our posture and gesture gives us away.

There is a universal unspoken language that help others understand what is going on inside our experience. Cartoonists capture these expressions superbly well. Some animals also read these cues very well. A dog quickly learns and thoroughly understands its dominant or submissive place within the human pack.

All but severely autistic people posess functioning mirror neurons, positioned between our motor neurons and emotional neurons, which are specialized to help us recognize these unspoken cues naturally. NLP helps us make distinctions and refine our ability to use our natural abilities better.
