NLP Practitioner: Lisa Olcese

Lisa Olcese"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable." - Helen Keller

The Only Constant

My work is about joining you on this daring adventure, even for a moment, because if security is an illusion, then it's nice to have some company. We build treasure maps, create manageable next-steps, and envision a compelling future that you can step into now.

Since we can only be certain of one thing - change - what are the inner resources that can help us thrive through whatever transitions we face? Whether it's in the office or in your own home, change happens. How can we meet it with grace and enthusiasm?

Why Lisa?

I am a Certified Master Practitioner of NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) and a Communications Specialist who partners with executives, managers and teams as trainer, group facilitator, and leadership coach. With over 18 years of training and community education experience in the fields of personal and professional development, organizational leadership, nonprofit management, and innovative social change, I have worked with businesses, health care organizations, non-profits, universities, and government agencies seeking to establish high standards for effective, ethical communication and inspired leadership.

Experience

I served as the Training and Community Education Director with the Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence for 9 years, and the Volunteer Coordinator for 5 years. I conducted over 300 trainings and facilitated discussions, most frequently on "Ethical Communication for Organizational Transformation" and "Building A Multi-Racial, Anti-Racist, Inclusive Organization." I also developed content expertise and training on developing school-based violence-prevention programs, nonprofit and volunteer management/leadership development, and customized domestic violence education for professional groups, including massage therapists, service providers, businesses and leaders in the faith community. My audience ranged from local law enforcement, corporate employees, hospital emergency room staff, public and private schools, and small business owners, so while my direct employment was with a nonprofit, I had the opportunity to train, facilitate and consult with professionals from a variety of sectors.

Prior to this, I worked in Public Affairs with Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains for four years. Since graduating from Smith College in 1989, I have had the privilege to work, play, and create in the company of other women leaders.

Lisa's Personal Journey

I have managed my own hyper self-consciousness, social anxiety, occasional bouts of depression, and a general quest for purpose through steady doses of art, nature, daily acts of fearlessness, and meditations on forgiveness. My studies in NLP are lifelong, and inspire and inform how I move about in the world.

Associations and Interests

I am co-owner of Tools for Transforming, a member of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, and a participant in the Smith Club of Colorado. I am an everyday artist, a graphic-recorder, a gardener - actual and metaphoric, and trapeze artist, and am currently reinventing myself as a 'runner.'

Lisa's Beliefs and Values

I have devoted my life to studying the delicate interplay of personal growth and social transformation. My work is informed by years of activism in social justice movements, years of learning by mistake and by what works, and a lifelong personal quest to live my purpose NOW. I use NLP because the results are often immediate, and lasting - and if they're not, we try something else. I am most definitely NOT a therapist and don't seek out stories about or root causes for present difficulties. When we clarify what we want now, and craft a compelling future, the path unfolds. I am a facilitator of the journey. Whether you're seeking to improve the efficiency and communication within your group or you wish to create personal changes that will affect all aspects of your life, please email me for more information about how we can work together.
