Why are Kinesthetics so Important in NLP?

Summary:

In tonight's web conference, we discussed the importance of Kinesthetics, and why they are a major component of NLP work.

Kinesthetics have submodalities of their own, which when taken together form biological symbols, with their own signature, and can be clearly understood by the mind if only the mind can be trained to observe these signatures when they appear.

In NLP, we say that the Mind and Body are one system, which is an understanding imparted to NLP initially through the field of Cybernetics, and is an idea that is gaining momentum through more and more studies.

NLPers have also heard many times about Milton Erickson, who would credit the unconscious mind with governing the body's many integrated functions, but tonight we explored the notion that the body's many functions are in fact the unconscious mind itself, inasmuch as it governs itself, communicates with itself and the conscious mind in a bio-symbolic language, where prior bio-events are encoded, stored, retrieved, and relived within the central nervous system, endocrine system, musculo-skeletal system, etc.

We explored the integration of mind and body, recognizing that there are top-down and bottom-up communications going on all the time, and that when there is incongruence, disease can result. So with that we explored some of the submodalities of kinesthetics, and explored how meta programs, and other bio-symbols are signified inwardly in our own bodies, and outwardly in the bodies of others we observe or work with. We assumed an attitude of awareness and curiosity as we allowed these signatures to manifest and dissipate through breathing into them.

Feedback:

Some of tonights ideas were familiar territory, but there were some very useful insights in how the information was combined to form a bridge between the mind and body.

We are also seeking a solution to allow for free calling for those without the ability to dial in.
